Keens spills the beans with haunting new single Secrets

“What I might say, and what I might do could kill”. Knowledge can be a heavy burden, especially with rocky family relationships, which Indie artist Keens knows all too well. Her new single,Secrets, expresses that weight with an anthemic and tension-filled tune, out on Friday June 12.

Keens is a Wiradjuri singer-songwriter based in the Illawarra. Equipped with a versatile musical skillset, Keens is at her best when she is writing and performing songs that resonate with messy 20-somethings who are just trying to get their lives together. Her brand of indie music calls to fans of Angie McMahon, Sam Fender and Middle Kids.

Featuring driving guitars, an ominous synth drone and a pulsing rhythm section, Secretsshowcases Keens’ trademark powerful vocals alongside some stellar harmonies. Written and recorded in 2025 with producer Benjamino (Ash Grunwald, Phoebe Over, Oputjo), the track helps convey the complicated feelings during family rifts, and the sense of being an outsider with your own flesh-and-blood. 

"It's about getting shit out in a cathartic release sort of way, the song holds back for so long then finally lets go." Remarks Keens. "It feels like a very small quiet town meets a big loud city, the final big feeling before shutting that door completely."

Secrets follows on from a big start to the year for Keens. After releasing her charming and melancholic single Skinny Dipping in March, she was part of a stellar lineup at Port Kembla Festival. Her latest release will be accompanied by several performances with her 5-piece band around the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

Keens has big plans for 2026, with a long-form release set to be announced in the second half of the year as well as more live shows. For now, listeners will be getting a taste of things to come with this latest release.

Keens is a Wiradjuri artist hailing from Shellharbour, NSW, best known for her powerful voice and equally powerful storytelling. Equipped with a versatile musical skillset, Keens is at her best when she is writing and performing Indie songs that resonate with messy 20-somethings who are just trying to get their lives together.

Since releasing her first tracks in 2024, Keens has collaborated with producers such as MIRAN.DA and Benjamino. On stage, she has performed at numerous local music festivals, cultural events, and took away 1st place at the UOW band comp. 

In 2026, Keens has already started the year with her softly spoken and melancholic Skinny Dipping, before releasing the anthemic and driven Secrets on 12 June. With a long-form release set to be announced in the latter half of the year, and several gigs around NSW announced, fans of Keens will be well fed with her unique style of anthemic Indie music.
